Kobalt Construction recently completed this ground-up AutoZone in Stroudsburg for Grace Construction. Our scope covered demolition, stormwater management, earthwork, paving, concrete, work under a Highway Occupancy Permit, and the building's foundations and masonry — a full-scope job that ran through several of our teams.
The site's standout challenge was stormwater: two large underground infiltration basins, fed by 36-inch and 48-inch pipe and surrounded by stone aggregate, on a small footprint. Getting proper drainage under the basins took considerable soil testing and amendment work before construction could proceed. Between the basin requirements, a tight site, and winter conditions, it was a demanding job — one our site crew, led by Pete, handled well from start to finish.
With the building complete, the remaining work — HOP highway shoulder improvements — is scheduled for spring.
